about

Fengir's debut album closes out Ancient Robot's first decade with lumbering synth funk, heroic hooks, and hints of dub. End-times imagery weaves through these tracks, evoking crumbling empires of antiquity.

The “Sea Peoples” is a historical concept describing a loose confederation of unknown maritime invaders thought to be largely responsible for the collapse of civilizations in the Eastern Mediterranean, Egypt and Mesopotamia during the Late Bronze Age (~1177 B.C.).

Until recently, the Sea Peoples were thought to be the main cause of this collapse. Historians now maintain that several other factors played a role, such as earthquakes, drought, and internal rebellion.

In this light, the mysterious Sea Peoples are seen not as marauding invaders seeking pillage and conquest, but as migrants displaced by chaos – victims of the same forces that brought down the great civilizations.

Some historians have drawn parallels between this period and the present time, highlighting the fragility of large, complex and interdependent systems, especially in the face of environmental disasters and popular unrest.
